Pelle started as an independent theatre lighting designer in 1988, building on experience he gained in eight years working as a lighting technician for various theatre companies such as Toneelgroep Centrum Amsterdam and various different theatre productions.
Besides producing stage lighting designs, Pelle has created the lighting for films, television and hundreds of commercials. A characteristic of his lighting designs for theatre is its cinematic approach in terms of editing, style and contrast. His work for theatre lighting design embraces opera, dance, drama, musicals and cabaret.
His theatre lighting designs earned Pelle the ‘Perspektiefprijs’ awarded by the Dutch Arts Incentive Fund in 1996.
Alongside his theatre and film work, Pelle works as a lighting designer for museums and architecture. His competence derives mainly from the great diversity of projects in which he participates.
Pelle is a co-founder and co-owner of Rapenburg Plaza.
