Kymani goes on a quest for his roots. He was adopted when he was a young child, and he now lives far away from his native country. He grows up in a class with students from different countries and learns about different cultures and traditions, but nowhere he feels at home. He hears Australian and Asian music, sees Irish and Indonesian dance, but only when he hears the drum music from Africa, he’s finally learned what culture suits him. Now he can show his friends something about his culture and tell stories with rhythms and timbres.

Dancers of the Internationaal Danstheater translate his stories into movements, live accompanied by Senegales drummers Moussé Pathé M’baye and tama (talking drum) player Pape Seck, coming from a Griot family and player of many percussion instruments (including sabar, bougarabou, djembé, krin and doundoun).
