After a re-opening earlier this year following the first phase of its refurbishment, the Zaans Museum marked the second phase by opening a new permanent exhibition, ‘Typically Zaans’, on 10 December 2014.
‘Typically Zaans’ shows a modern representation of the ‘Antiquities and Curiosities of Zaanland. This exhibition is based on an exhibition that was seen in 1874 in the City Hall at the ‘Burcht’ in Zaandam.
On 8 October 2014, the Zaans Museum opened its doors for the new exhibition entitled: ‘The Zaanstreek Makes It’.
Rapenburg Plaza created this new experience through light design, AV technology and installation.
The new exhibition, designed by Studio Pronk, throws new light on the museum’s collection and the stories about the Zaanstreek then and now. The’ Zaans Spectacle’ brings the presentation to life and allows the visitor to experience the mills, factories and hard work. The exhibition space rolls back time through the use of light, sound and projections.
The portrait gallery and the stories table, where all the documentaries of ‘Monuments Speaking’ are be on display, complete this exploration of the Zaanstreek.
